My Chemical Heart
by: Jonathan Marsolais
I've fought so often
Trying to push everyone away
But no one listens to me
They all ignore what I have to say
I take some pills
To flush the anger out
To take and rob me of sadness
To make me whole
With my chemical heart
Me and others fight constantly
We keep each other away
I wanna leave this prison
But I don't know how
I take some pills
To flush the anger out
To get rid of sadness
To hypnotize me
With my chemical heart
I pass out when I fight too much
I feel so angry when no one does anything to help
So leave me be
So that my chemical heart
May let me die

Though I have never taken drugs, I have seen what it does to people. And though many say it wrecks their life, some live with it and are happy with that. Though I share similar feelings to the poem, I miss the drug use part.

Ouch, Jonathan! Sometimes your writing makes me want to grab you and give you a big old Mama hug!
